Virtual Science Fair Submissions are now Closed. We look forward to seeing you in August 2005!

Use this page to register for the HLN Virtual Science Fair. Read through this entire page before submitting your application.

There are two ways to register for the HLN Virtual Science Fair. You may either download the Printable Registration Form and mail it to us along with your registration fee, or you may fill out the Online Registration Form below, and pay your registration fee through our online payment system.

 

OPTION ONE:

  • Fill out the Online Registration Form below after reading through our Step-by-Step Guide. NOTE: Make sure to save all your project information before clicking "send."

  • Click "Send", and you will arrive at a registration payment page. Pay your registration directly through your PayPal Account.

  • ALL REGISTRATION FORMS FOR THE CURRENT VIRTUAL SCIENCE FAIR MUST BE RECEIVED BY May 5, 2004.

 

OPTION TWO:

  • Download the Printable Registration Form after reading through our Step-by-Step Guide.

  • Fill out the application.

  • Send in your registration form along with your registration fee to:

Registration Form

 

PART I: REGISTRATION FORM AGREEMENTS

By filling out and submitting the following registration form, the applicant agrees to the following:

  1. Eligibility. The applicant has read the eligibility requirements and meets the requirements listed.

  2. Supervision. The applicant is being supervised in this submission process, and this supervisor [hereinafter "PROJECT SUPERVISOR"] has read through the complete registration form and planned research project proposal.

  3. Parental Consent. The applicant's parent/guardian, if different from the PROJECT SUPERVISOR, has approved this project, and is aware of the rules and regulations herein.

  4. Consent Age. The applicant's parent, guardian, or PROJECT SUPERVISOR is over the age of 18, and is completing the registration payment online.

  5. Risks. The applicant and PROJECT SUPERVISOR understand the risks and possible dangers of the proposed research plan, and will adhere to all the rules and regulations of this Virtual Science Fair.

  6. Human Subjects & Hazardous Materials. If this project involves human subjects, pathogen agents, hazardous substances, controlled substances, recombinant DNA or human or animal tissue, both the applicant and PROJECT SUPERVISOR agree to the regulations related to these items.

  7. Human Subjects Form. If this project involves the use of human subjects, the applicant and PROJECT SPONSOR agree to submit the Human Subjects form as required by the deadline of this Virtual Science Fair.

  8. Chemical Safety. If Chemicals are planned to be used, the applicant and the PROJECT SUPERVISOR agree that they have reviewed the Material Safety Data Sheet http://www.ilpi.com/msds/ (MDSS) listing for each chemical that will be used.

  9. Dangerous Equipment. If dangerous equipment (welders, lasers, voltage greater than 220 volts) is planned to be used, the applicant and the PROJECT SUPERVISOR agree that they have reviewed proper operational procedures and safety precautions for the equipment.

  10. Indemnity. The applicant, and his/her parent/guardian and PROJECT SUPERVISOR agree that there are inherent risks in the scientific experimentation project, and they will not hold the HLN Virtual Science Fair, or any of its subsidiaries or sponsors, responsible for any accidents or injuries that result from the development of this project. HLN Virtual Science Fair is acting solely as an agent to display and support the study of the sciences among independent students.

  11. Registration Deadlines. All registrations and project submittals are due no later than May 5, 2004. Applicants have reviewed the Virtual Science Fair Schedule, and agree to the dates presented. Any project submitted after the deadline may not be included in the competition. No registration fees will be reimbursed for late submittals or non-submittals.

  12. Project Submittals Applicants have reviewed the Project Submittal Requirements and agree to supply all required material by the project deadlines in order to be eligible for certificates, awards, and/or prizes.

  13. Registration Fees. The Registration Fee for the HLN Virtual Science Fair is a one-time fee of $15.95. This fee is due at the time of registration. It includes all correspondence, web page production, judging, and awards. There will be no additional fees for this project for participants. This Virtual Science Fair has been developed by the Home School Learning Network, Inc. All registration fees are waived for paid subscribers of the Homeschool Learning Network's online curriculum services.
